Celestial Madness by melukilan Celestial Madness by melukilan
Minor character from an RP; the embodiment of insanity. Taken and twisted from a half-remembered supernatural detective story set in China.
Finally, me doing some artwork for my own sake. It's not either of the pictures I wanted to finish, but it was a lot faster than either.
I'm almost done with the huge commission. That'll probably be next up.

What an utterly gorgeous piece - so simple and flowing in design, but everything perfectly done. o.o *stares in admiration*

I like the flow of the snakes, how she is slightly leaning, her wing-arms and her content, mellow expression. Your line art is amazing.

"a half-remembered supernatural detective story set in China."

I'd just /love/ to hear more about that. Is there anywere I can go and read?

Well, the problem is, it's half-remembered. I got it out of the library, and it had a title something like "Judge Wu and One Strong Ox" but I really don't remember the title or author or anything except dreamlike snippets of the story. It was about an old detective magistrate guy and his young assistant, and there was a puppet-master and his beautiful daughter, and...the best you could probably do is look for some key words on a library computer. Sorry!

You are probably thinking of "The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox", a collection of three books by Barry Hughart. The individual titles of the books are "Bridge of Birds", "The Story of the Stone" and "Eight Skilled Gentlemen".

And I absolutely adore this picture. The graceful simplicity of the lines is really striking. It looks like something that should be embroidered on silk.

Absolutely gorgeous! ^_^ Is that marker? Amazing how well just two colors can be used as such a striking contrast.
