perfect. it's absolutely star, and really cool to see him outside his usual milieu. the details are so well chosen, too - i love the horse calender on the wall, and i have to admire the boots because i find feet so damn impossible. beautiful, beautiful work, chuchu!

Damn you, damn you and your fine art skillz. That's damnation in a purely complementary sense.

Though I was, as always, impressed with your work, I thought I ought to say what impressed me, because I found it very singular. though the figure is excellent (something about that front foot, his left, I suppose, really makes me pause on it. It's just very natural, I suppose, I sit with my foot that way, but my natural is not always...er...natural....) I was most impressed by the background. It made me think of grandfatherly things, smelling the fallen leave of pecan trees, that sort of dusty homey sensation from a place that is, for all its homeliness, not home; just visiting. I suppose part of it is the detail: the bottles, and the one with the peculiar catch-of-the-light, the calendar, the jacket. I think it's the odd untouched quality that makes it a transitory location as if everything's in its place, but it's not for you to move. the glass without an accompanying bottle helps. Evocative, I'd say. There's also a nice depth to it, which seems to be difficult to acheive with watercolor (is it watercolor? I wouldn't know...I don't know watercolor from crayola). It's just all very well framed, I think. Enough that the feeling stands out over the technical prowess to me.

So, er, yes. I likes it. Er...'Tis very pretty...er...and...ah.... stuff.

Well done,
-Kitten

Mr. Holmes thanks you for your letter. At the moment he is in retirement in Sussex, keeping bees.

I might have said it before but I love the real quality to your art. It's a kind of dusty gritty true to life yet beautiful at the same time kind of thing. I hope I make sense. But if I don't, I'll just go with a generic, it's good I like it. :XD:
