Once a princess of Elfland ran away. She left her embroidery by the window and slipped out unseen to the wild woods. No-one could figure out why she left, she who had been protected from birth within the walls of the fair palace, who had never been out so far as even the palace gardens, for fear the sun should burn her or the jealous moon steal her wits. The king her father was devastated.
He put all the forest in a deep sleep, and suspended time itself, so that his daughter could come to no harm. Search parties went into the forest to bring her out, but they, too, fell under the king's spell, and fell asleep before they had gone five yards.
So the princess sleeps, there by the stream where she was playing. Caught so suddenly by her father's spell, she will never know how her stolen afternoon of freedom outlasts the centuries.
This picture popped into my head at 2 am on a school night, and after about half an hour I had to get up and sketch it out just to make it leave me alone. It came out effortlessly. As soon as I went back to bed, a second picture, Blind Angelin, popped in, and I had to get up and draw that one, too. I love my muse, oddly enough. Pictures like this are worth a few lost hours of sleep.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
